SAA event in Michigan, West Bloomfield area, United States of America on Thu 12th March 2026
12th March 2026
On 12 March 2026, a 41-year-old man drove and rammed his truck into Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield (Michigan), striking a security guard, before exiting the vehicle and shooting at security guards. The security guards returned fire at the attacker. The vehicle caught fire, possibly caused by fireworks and gasoline in the car. The attacker was found dead from a gunshot wound, but it was not immediately clear if this was a bullet fired by security guards or if it was self-inflicted. The man was a U.S. citizen originally from Lebanon and had lost four relatives in Lebanon due to Israeli strikes on Lebanon, including a brother who the Israeli military claimed was a Hezbollah member killed in a strike the week prior. One of the security guards was injured, and dozens of first responders were treated for smoke inhalation, but the people inside the building - including over 100 children - were unharmed. The FBI said that the attack had targeted the Jewish community. 1 fatality.
