On 12 March 2026, two drones launched by an unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) struck observation towers (likely also a radar) at Majnoon Oil Field (Al Basrah). One crashed into an outer tower, causing no damage to the radar itself but damaging solar panels on the tower. Security forces opened an investigation. There were no casualties.
