On 12 March 2026, in Santa Maria de los Angeles, Jalisco, state police clashed with armed men when they were conducting patrol operations in a rural area. The clash started when officers attempted to approach the armed men in vehicles and the suspects opened fire and fled through dirt roads toward Zacatecas. During the pursuit, the attackers launched explosive devices using drones and suspectedly also using additional explosives from the ground. One female police officer was injured by shrapnel in the leg. 1 injured.
