Around 12 March 2026 (as reported), local youths from surrounding communities mobilized and clashed with Guinean soldiers around the Liberia-Guinea border at the Sorlumba Port of Entry, coded to the closest known hamlet, Sorlumba Ponbon (Foya, Lofa), to not let the soldiers cross the border. One civilian was injured and treated at a local hospital. The Guinean soldiers were accused of crossing the border and trying to take equipment and 'intimidate' workers of a road construction project at a sand extraction site, which they claimed belonged to Guinea. This happened within a context of similar tensions around the Sierra Leonean border.
