On 12 March 2026, in El Progreso, Yoro, members of MS-13: Mara Salvatrucha clashed with members of a rival gang known as La Kleibona in the La Fragua sector of the former banana camps near Urraco Pueblo. The shootout lasted approximately 30-40 minutes, and police found approximately 150 shell casings at the scene. The violence is linked to territorial disputes over drug trafficking and theft at banana and palm oil farms in the area. According to police, three of the victims were MS-13 members and the fourth was linked to La Kleibona, though neighbors indicated that at least two of the victims were palm cutters with no known gang affiliation. 4 fatalities.
