On 18 May 2021, a mortar shell fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza Strip hit an Israeli military vehicle in the border crossing between Israel and Gaza Strip in Erez (HaDarom, Ashqelon), while it was assisting in the transfer of humanitarian aid shipments into the Gaza Strip. One Israeli soldier was injured.
