On 11 March 2026, around 1:30am Baghdad time, suspected Iranian forces (coded as IRGC by default) launched two WBIEDs that directly impacted the Safesea Vishnu crude oil tanker (IMO: 9327009; Marshall Islands/USA/USA/India) and the Zefyros chemical/oil products tanker (IMO: 9515917; Malta/Greece/Greece/Greece) in Iraqi territorial waters, around 5 nm south of Basrah (coded to Coast of Al Basrah) (Al Basrah). The attack caused a fire on both ships, killing at least 1 Indian crew member. Iraqi rescue ships evacuated 25 crew members from both ships, but an unspecified number of them was reported missing. Some sources claimed that the attack was carried out by pro-Iranian Iraqi militias instead. 1 fatality coded.
