On 11 March 2026, in Balneario Camboriu (Santa Catarina), military police officers shot and killed a man who had invaded an apartment building in the Vila Real neighborhood and threatened a resident with a knife. The perpetrator forced entry into the building, entered an apartment, and barricaded himself inside while threatening to kill the resident. Police attempted to negotiate and used a stun device, but the man did not surrender. 1 fatality.
