SAA event in Zacatecas, San Pedro Piedra Gorda area, Mexico on Tue 10th March 2026

On 10 March 2026, around Cuauhtemoc municipality (coded to San Pedro Piedra Gorda), Zacatecas, armed individuals shot at members of the Zacatecas Immediate Reaction Force FRIZ (state police), the National Guard and military officers during a patrol. The officers were looking for a stolen motorcycle with possible packages with explosive devices. The armed individuals shot at the police from the bushes and also used a drone carrying explosive devices near the border between Cuauhtemoc, Zacatecas, and the community of Zacatequillas in Aguascalientes. According to the authorities, the drone was sent from Zacatequillas community. The drone was shot down. There were no casualties. Members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) claimed responsibility for these actions through videos on social media.
