SAA event in Abyei, Amieth Market area, Sudan on Tue 10th March 2026

On 10 March 2026, 3 members of the Misseriya community, traveling in a Land Cruiser pick-up towards Abyei from Amiet Market, were stopped at a Dinka checkpoint (likely Ngok Dinka, based on location) for tax collection, resulting in a clash on the southern side of Amiet/Amieth Market (Abyei disputed area). The Misseriya refused to pay, which led to an argument that escalated into a violent confrontation involving gunfire and stabbing. 3 Misseriya were injured, 2 by gunshots and one by stabbing, while one Dinka male was stabbed and wounded. The injured Misseriya were taken to Diffra for medical treatment, and the wounded Dinka male was transported to MSF hospital, where he later died.
