On 9 March 2026, SPLM/A-IO members clashed with SSPDF forces across the river from the Akobo Town site in the Wech-Deng area, Bilkey Payam (location coded to Akobo, the nearest known location in Akobo County, Jonglei State). SSPDF forces pushed back the opposition members, who scattered around the nearby area. Occasional gunfire continued, with some shots heard within the town, but one source noted these were likely caused by looters. Casualties unknown.
