On 9 March 2026, ISWAP/ Boko Haram (JAS) militants clashed with military troops to overrun a military facility in Goniri (Gujba, Yobe), killing 1 commanding officer. At least 10 militants were killed. Items recovered from the insurgents' positions within the camp include bandoliers of PKT rounds, one AK-47 rifle, one BHT machine gun, two mortar bombs, and four hand grenades. There were at least 11 fatalities.
