On 9 March 2026, an IED planted by Al Shabaab exploded, targeting a national Identification and registration authority (NIRA) facility in the Hawlwadag neighborhood of Baidoa town (Baydhaba, Bay). The explosion caused some damage to the facility. There were no casualties.
