On 9 March 2026, in the afternoon, JNIM militants attacked a volunteer fighter (VDP) along with two civilians between Nassan and Zizin, coded to Nassan (Tougan, Sourou, Boucle du Mouhoun). 1 civilian was killed, and another was missing. Additionally, the militants seized the VDP's AK rifle and a bicycle.
