On 8 March 2026, a sub-leader of the Dawlah Islamiyah - Hassan Group was killed in a firefight with the military in Barangay Tinimbacan (Banisilan, Cotabato, Soccsksargen). Authorities said the militant once served as the emir or amir (leader) of the Hassan Group. The clash broke out when soldiers were sent to arrest him. His four companions fled amid the clash.
