On 8 March 2026, in Nuevo Celilac, Santa Barbara, a shootout erupted near the Jicatuyo bridge between armed men and what sources describe as National Police agents. During the exchange of fire, a woman was struck by a stray bullet while traveling in a vehicle with family members. She was transported to a local medical facility but died from her injuries. Police involvement in the incident has not been officially confirmed by authorities. 1 fatality.
