Around 8 March 2026 (weekend of), armed youth suspected to be from Mayom, Mayendit, Koch, Panyijiar, and Leer counties of Unity State (likely members of the Nuer community, who are predominant in the area) and suspected to be backed by the SPLM/A-IO, attacked the Luach-Jang Dinka community, resulting in armed clashes in Pathet, Ajak-dul, and Muut cattle camps in Tonj East County (location coded to Romich, the county headquarters in Warrap State). At least 13 civilians, including 8 women and children, were killed, while 7 other people were injured. 1 source claimed at least 11 fatalities and added that 2 others, a paramount chief and his deputy, were killed separately on 8 March (no further information). 100 cattle were raided, an unspecified number of people were displaced, and assorted properties were destroyed. Security forces had not intervened due to logistical challenges and distance. A local official noted that 5 people were killed and 4 others injured in the area on 9 March, but it is unclear if the casualties were among the 13 reported. 13 fatalities (11 civilians and 2 chiefs) coded for this event.
