On 8 March 2026, overnight, armed militants on motorcycles (likely ISSP, based on location) attacked the Air Force Base 401 (Ville de Tahoua, Tahoua), located beside the Tahoua airport, and the headquarters of the 42nd Interarmes Battalion in Tahoua (coded separately). The army claimed that the attack was repelled and that the clashes resulted in the death of several militants, the arrest of nine suspects, the slight injury of some Nigerien soldiers, as well as the seizure of militant weapons.
