On 8 March 2026, Fano clashed with ENDF, Amhara regional riot police, and Kebele militia in Yelayignawu Seramba Serdo Kebele (location coded to the admin center Ataye Town, Ataye town, North Shewa, Amhara), and Feredo Wuha and Tereter in Kara Legoma (coded separately), leading to the killings and injuries of forces on both sides. The Fano forces launched an offensive in Kara Legoma Kebele, which later expanded to Seramba Serdo following a counter-offensive by the state security forces.
