On 7 March 2026, unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) launched several rockets and drones toward the United States Embassy compound in the Green Zone in Baghdad - Karkh (Baghdad), some of missiles or the drones managed to hit areas close to the targeted Embassy resulting in fire from the al-Qanat area in eastern Baghdad, prompting the activation of the embassy's C-RAM air defense system, which intercepted the incoming projectiles. No casualties or damage were reported. There were no fatalities.
