Rocket event in Baalbek-Hermel, Al Nabi Sheet area, Lebanon on Sat 7th March 2026
7th March 2026
On 7 March 2026, armed clashes broke out between the Israeli army and Hezbollah operatives in Al Nabi Sheet town (Baalbek, Baalbek-Hermel), following an Israeli airborne operation in the area. According to the Lebanese Army, four IDF helicopters advanced toward the town of Khraibeh and deployed eight special operations soldiers. The force then used an ambulance resembling those operated by the Islamic Health Society, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, and a Hummer vehicle similar to those used by the Lebanese Army to enter the town. The unit reportedly advanced to the Chukr Cemetery area to search for the remains of Israeli Air Force navigator Ron Arad, who was captured in 1986 after an Israeli aircraft was shot down over Ghazieh. During the clashes, the Israeli Air Force deployed helicopters to provide cover for the infiltrating force and conducted more than 40 airstrikes in the area. At 4:15 AM local time, Hezbollah announced that its fighters fired rocket barrages targeting the escape route of the infiltrating force on the outskirts of the town. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 41 people were killed and 40 others were injured in the incident. Among the victims were three Lebanese Army soldiers and one General Security first inspector.
