On 7 March 2026, in Nova Iguacu (Rio de Janeiro), unidentified armed men with rifles, wearing civil police uniforms, broke into a banquet hall and exchanged fire with an off-duty military police officer in the Luz neighborhood. During the shooting, the officer and a suspect were killed. The attack motivation is unknown. 2 fatalities.
