Fort Washington Park remains closed after investigators reportedly found nearly 10 pipe bombs in a wooded area earlier this week.

U.S. Park Police told WUSA9 Sunday evening that two suspicious packages were found at the park shortly before 2:15 p.m. The park was evacuated and closed while a search unfolded. USPP found another three explosive devices on Sunday, all of which were rendered safe.

On Monday afternoon, Prince George's County Fire and EMS reported that more devices were found the following morning. Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy says nine explosive devices were found in total.

ATF has taken over as lead in the investigation. The agency says initial findings indicate that the devices were not recently planted, and there is nothing to suggest a threat to park visitors or the surrounding community.

Fort Washington Park remains closed while law enforcement continues to sweep the area for any remaining devices and collect evidence as to who may have left the alleged pipe bombs.

Braveboy says the park will reopen on Wednesday to give authorities another day to ensure the public is safe.

The investigation is ongoing. Officials have not released any details regarding possible suspects or motive. Anyone with potentially relevant information may call 1-888-ATF-BOMB
