Explosion along Kiama-Woro road kills driver, injures nursing mother in Kwara

A suspected landmine explosion along Kiama/Woro Road in Kwara State claimed the life of a driver and injured a passenger on Wednesday morning, police said.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, the incident occurred at about 0650hrs when a red Toyota Corolla was shattered by the blast.
The driver, Zubaru Inuwa, died on the spot, while the only passenger, a nursing mother identified as Nafisat Mohammed, sustained injuries and was taken to Ilorin for treatment. Her male child, also in the car, escaped unharmed.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers confirmed that the explosion was caused by a suspected landmine planted along the road.
Police authorities have urged officers at Woro and Nuku locations to remain alert and vigilant, while the situation continues to be closely monitored.
