Twelve soldiers were killed during an attack on a military column deployed along the Kyaukpadaung-Myingyan road in Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, an official from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) told Khit Thit Media.
On the morning of March 14, a military column of approximately 300 troops arrived at Aye Village in Taungtha Township. Subsequently, the soldiers took up positions along the Kyaukpadaung-Myingyan road, with about 30 troops stationed at Khar Pat Village, 30 at the Thamone Pin junction, 30 near the Kyar Nay Aing junction, and another 30 at the Seik Htein Village junction.
Later, around 6:00 p.m., as approximately 30 soldiers from the Seik Htein junction headed toward Aye Village in three vehicles, PLA members launched an attack. The ensuing firefight lasted about five minutes.
During the engagement, 12 soldiers were killed and many others were wounded. One of the three military vehicles veered off the road and was destroyed. PLA members were able to withdraw without any casualties.
