Security sources said the incident occurred on March 20 around Zarh village, near River Zarh, where insurgents had planted the explosive device.
“On arrival, it was confirmed that a sheep stepped on the IED, causing it to detonate. Thankfully, no civilians or troops were injured, and no equipment was affected,” a source said.
Troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical), in collaboration with local hunters, have intensified patrols and clearance operations in the area to detect and neutralise any other explosives.
Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or movements to security authorities.
Military officials reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property in the region and urged the public to support counter-insurgency efforts through timely and credible information.
