Mine event in Bago Region, Thegon area, Myanmar on Fri 6th March 2026

In Thegon Township, Bago Region, three soldiers were killed during an ambush on terrorist military troops who arrived on two tractors to conduct area clearance operations, Comrade Zarni Thway, military in-charge of the Pyay District People's Defense Organization (PDO/PaKaPha), told Khit Thit Media.

On March 6, around 10:00 AM, a column of 25 personnel departing from Thegon town on two "Pazin-gaung" tractors arrived at Bawdikone Village. While they were scouting the area with a drone, the Pyay District PDO Special Strike Team, operating under Strategy 21, successfully shot down the surveillance drone.

Following the crash of the drone, soldiers who came out to search for it engaged in three separate clashes with a combined force consisting of the Pyay District PDO Special Strike Team, the Thegon PDO Strike Team, and Pyay District Battalion (1) Company (5).

During these encounters, one terrorist soldier was killed and two others were wounded. Later, as the military column retreated while carrying the body of the deceased and the injured, the joint revolutionary forces attacked them with two minefields near Bawdikone Village. This mine attack resulted in four soldiers being seriously injured, with reports indicating two are likely to have died.
