On 6 March 2026, an unidentified armed group attacked the convoy of a former Minister of Transportation along the Ubima-Omuaanra road, location coded to the nearest populated area, Ubima (Ikwerre, Rivers). The former minister's security details (likely the police due to the security arrangement in the country) repelled the attack and escaped the ambush. The former minister was on the way to register his membership in a new political party, ADC, when he was attacked. There were no casualties.
