On 5 March 2026, in Mese township (Bawlake district, Kayah state), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes and dropped at least bombs with a fighter jet near the No.2 detention center of the Karenni Interim Executive Council, where local resistance forces detained family members of the Myanmar military soldiers who were captured as prisoners of war around 11 am. 5 civilians (4 women and a man) including an 8-year-old child, were killed and many were injured. 5 fatalities.
