SAA event in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Damatulan area, Philippines on Wed 4th March 2026

On 4 March 2026, a high school student was hit by a stray bullet and killed from a firefight between two rival clans involved in a rido (clan blood feud) in Barangay Lomopog (Midsayap, Cotabato, Soccsksargen) and later escalated in Barangay Damatulan (Midsayap, Cotabato, Soccsksargen). The student was shot by a stray bullet while she and her family were preparing to leave their home in Barangay Damatulan due to the clash. 5 members of a Moro family were also wounded. The two clans were fighting for control of areas along the boundary of Datu Piang and Nabalawag. Residents were forced to regularly give the clans money and rice. The conflict intensified after they backed opposing candidates in the May 2025 elections. The clash lasted from 3 to 4 March (coded separately).
