On 4 March 2026, in the afternoon, JNIM militants launched an attack on a volunteer fighters (VDP) post in the village of Woula (Djibasso, Kossi, Boucle du Mouhoun). A unit from the Djibasso military detachment intervened and engaged in a clash with the militants. A total of 21 people were killed, including 9 civilians and 12 militants. A number of soldiers were also injured. Additionally, the soldiers seized weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and other items. JNIM claimed to have attacked and taken control of a VDP position in the village, without providing further information.
