On 3 March 2026, suspected Boko Haram (JAS) militants under the leadership of Abu Umaymah (Bakura Doro) attacked a military base in Ngoshe town (Gwoza, Borno), killing at least 9 soldiers and CJTF. They also overran Ngoshe town and killed several civilians, including the chief imam of the town and many prominent leaders. The assailants also attacked the IDP camp in the location and abducted about 100 people, including women and children. They set fire to houses, cars and armored vehicle, and carted away military equipment. The attack forced some residents to flee and seek refuge in nearby villages. The Nigerian troops later engaged them along the Ngoshe -Pulka road and killed over 50 (coded separately). Unspecified number of civilian fatalities coded as 10. There were 19 fatalities, including 9 soldiers.
