UAV event in Akrotiri, Royal Air Force Akrotiri area, Cyprus on Mon 2nd March 2026
2nd March 2026
On 2 March 2026, early morning, Hezbollah forces based in Lebanon launched at least 1 Shahed-type drone that struck the runway of the UK Royal Air Force Akrotiri base on the island of Cyprus (Akrotiri and Dhekelia). The drone caused minor damage to the airbase's runway. There were no casualties but the incident prompted a partial evacuation of the military facility. Hezbollah did not claim the attack, which was attributed to the Lebanese group by Cypriot authorities. Later that day, 2 more drones were intercepted on their way to the base (coded as a separate event).
