On 2 March 2026, Jubaland security forces clashed with a group of long-term residents (coded as unidentified armed group) who had occupied the former Somali Marine military camp for decades in Fanole neighborhood in Kismayo town (Kismaayo, Lower Juba). The confrontation followed an eviction order issued by the Jubaland authorities under the directive of the Kismayo District Commissioner. 2 women were killed, and another person was injured.
