On 2 March 2026, unidentified drone strikes killed 4 children aged 6 to 9 in the Dikhil region, coded to Dikhil (Dikhil, Dikhil). They were part of a group watching over herds. Authorities mentioned it was an explosion, and the Djiboutian League for the Defense of Human Rights claimed it was a drone strike. A team was deployed to the scene to determine the origin of the explosion. 2 children aged 6 and 7 (a boy and a girl) were killed on the spot, and 2 others succumbed to their injuries on March 3. Six other children were injured, one of them in serious condition.
