On 1 March 2026, clashes erupted between the Taliban and Pakistan military forces in the Pate Mina border area of Torkham (Muhmand Dara district, Nangarhar). The Taliban's 201st Khalid bin Walid Corps led the operation, which they described as a retaliatory attack. Taliban forces claimed destroying three Pakistani armored tanks, the Torkham military headquarters, a commissioner's office, and several key Pakistani bases, resulting in the deaths of 10 Pakistani soldiers. Casualties unknown. They also claimed that Pakistani forces targeted civilian sites around the Torkham gate, causing damage to a hospital and a refugee camp.
