On 1 March 2026, unidentified assailants (coded as unidentified armed group) stopped and shot at a UNMISS engineering contingent, accompanied by a security escort of military personnel traveling from Akobo to Pibor, resulting in an armed clash at an illegal roadblock along the border between Jonglei State and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) in the Likuangole area of Likuangole Payam (Pibor, Jonglei). The peacekeepers acted in self-defense. There were no casualties.
