On 1 March 2026, police officers ambushed about 20 gunmen (likely Samburu militia who have recently been active in the sub-county), leading to an armed clash in Daaba (Isiolo, Isiolo), as the gunmen were heading out for a livestock raid. 2 gunmen were killed, and an unknown number escaped with gunshot wounds.
