On 1 March 2026, members of the personal guard of Selemani Kabala, chief of the Mayi Mayi (Malaika), clashed with Mayi Mayi (Malaika-Souverain) loyal to Chief of Staff Amisi Souverain in Mingazi camp, 2 kilometers from Salamabila and Machapano, coded to Salamabila (Kabambare, Maniema). Several civilians were killed and others were injured. Unspecified fatalities, coded as 3. Economic activities were suspended until the following day. More than 21,000 civilians, mostly women and children, from Fundi, Machapano, Katumbutele, Lwandiya and Kambondo fled to Salamabila, Nduba, Muhoya and Kaaja.
