On 1 March 2026, FARDC-FNDB-Wazalendo coalition (Kakobanya faction) clashed with M23-Twirwaneho-Red-Tabara coalition in Nyawaranga, coded to a nearby location, Makaina I (Mwenga, Sud-Kivu) and recaptured Mikenge, Kakenge, Bilalombili, Kisirita and Bidegu (coded separately). Unclear whether FARDC-FNDB-Wazalendo coalition recaptured Nyawaranga. Overall, at least 11 M23 and allies were killed, including an M23 brigade commander and a Twirwaneho logistics officer. 5 M23 were captured and 17 others surrendered. 11 fatalities split across 6 locations, coded as 1 for this event. Military equipment was recovered, including five AK-47 rifles, a 12.7 mm caliber machine gun, a 60 mm mortar, a PKM, a pistol, a device described as an anti-drone laser, and a Motorola communication device.
