On 28 February 2026, an unidentified armed group ambushed a convoy of Wagner Group traveling from Kaga-Bandoro to Ndele at a junction just outside Mbres (Mbres, Nana-Grebizi). 2 people were killed. One was seriously injured and evacuated to Kaga-Bandoro and later to Bangui. After the ambush, Wagner and FACA forces conducted a sweep of the area without locating the attackers.
