A coordinated operation by federal forces was carried out after two vehicles attempted to flee during routine patrols. ÍMURIS, Sonora—Members of the National Guard and the Mexican Army seized weapons and arrested four people during an operation carried out on February 23 in the municipality of Ímuris. According to the report from the 45th Military Zone, based in Nogales, the operation took place when military personnel were conducting preventative patrols and detected two vehicles whose drivers attempted to flee upon noticing the presence of the authorities. After signaling them to stop, the agents proceeded with an inspection, where they discovered that the occupants were carrying firearms, and they were subsequently arrested at the scene. The operation resulted in the seizure of: - Three long guns - One handgun - One grenade - Two vehicles, one of which was factory-armored - Four individuals allegedly linked to a criminal group. The detainees and the weapons were turned over to the appropriate authorities, who will determine their legal status.
