State Police Officer Wounded by Explosive in Shootout with Criminal Cell in Jalisco; Operation Underway Toward Zacatecas. An officer with a leg injury was airlifted to the Guadalajara metropolitan area; her condition is stable. In the community of La Hiedrita, in the municipality of Santa María de los Ángeles, state police officers engaged in an armed confrontation with suspected members of a criminal cell. An officer was wounded in the leg by a projectile from the blast wave of an explosive detonated during the clash. Authorities confirmed that the incident was under control. The officer was airlifted by the state police helicopter to the La Curva heliport in Zapopan and is out of danger. Federal, state, and municipal agencies are conducting an active search operation following reports that those involved fled toward Zacatecas.
