National Guard Member and Civilian Shot in Irapuato; Two Wounded in Ambush from Motorcycle. An active-duty National Guard member and another man were victims of an armed attack in the El Comunal Emiliano Zapata III neighborhood on Saturday night, March 14. Two unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on two people on Gustavo Vázquez Prado Street, near the corner of Gildardo Magaña. The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m., after residents of the area called 911. Upon arrival, municipal police found the facade of a house riddled with bullet holes. Witnesses reported that the attackers fled quickly after the attack. According to authorities and witnesses at the scene, one of the wounded is a member of the National Guard and received treatment at the Military Hospital. His companion was taken to another hospital by private means. The area was cordoned off while the State Attorney General's Office processed the scene, collecting spent shell casings as part of the ongoing investigation.
