On 12 May 2021, PKK militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish army soldiers on Sehit Azad hill (Kurdish name) in Metina region (Mergasur district) of Duhok province. HPG reported that one Turkish soldier was killed in the attack and 2 others were injured.
