On March 9, Ahsan Habib Palash, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Chattogram Range, stated that they established full control in Jungle Salimpur area in Sitakunda Upazila (Sub-District) in Chattogram District, after Joint forces launched a large-scale operation deploying around 3,200 personnel from the Army, Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), reports The Daily Star. According to DIG, several weapons were recovered during the drive and around 15 people were detained, though the exact number could not immediately be confirmed due to poor mobile network coverage in many parts of the area. The operation began around 6:00 am with heavy equipment, with members of the joint forces cordoning off the entire area before conducting raids.
