SAA event in Telengana, Mangi Forest, Adilabad District area, India on Sat 7th March 2026
7th March 2026
On March 7, Telangana Police thwarted an attempt by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) to establish a new operational base in the Mangi forest area of Adilabad District after intensified Security Force (SF) pressure in Chhattisgarh, reports The Times of India. Maoist cadres tried to move into the forest belt beyond the Kawal Tiger Reserve following operations linked to Operation Kagar in the Maad and Bastar regions. The plan was disrupted after the arrest of Yerragandla Ravi alias Prashant and associates at Asifabad, and the interception of Badise Deva alias Barsa Sukka, a Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion Commander, while transporting eight AK-47 rifles. Senior Maoist Thippiri Tirupati alias Devji also abandoned plans to enter Adilabad and later surrendered. On March 7, 130 Maoists surrendered before Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, handing over 124 firearms.
