On March 7, United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) cadre identified as Apan Tripura, alias Sangram, 28, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Barakona area of ??Panchari Sadar Union in Panchari Upazila (Sub-District) of Khagrachhari District, reports The Daily Star. Angya Marma, organiser of the Khagrachari unit of UPDF, in a statement, said that around 11:30 am, a group of 15–20-armed men started ambushing them. Condemning the killing, UPDF accused the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), led by Santu Larma, of carrying out the murder, which was later denied by Sajib Chakma, assistant information and publicity secretary of the PCJSS.
