On March 6, unidentified assailants shot dead village Sarpanch (head of the Panchayat, village-level local self-Government institution) Harpinder Singh alias Happy of Patto Hira Singh village in Baghapurana Sub-Division of Moga District in Punjab, reports The Tribune. Four-armed attackers opened fire at close range in the main market around 10:30 am, creating panic before fleeing the scene. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Gandhi stated that preliminary investigation suggested personal enmity behind the killing.
