On March 4, a pro-Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) transport workers’ leader, identified as Masum Billah, 55, who was the former president of Rupsha Upazila (Sub-District) unit of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal and former president of the Rupsha–Bagerhat inter-district road transport workers’ Union, was shot dead by unidentified criminals near Dakbangla intersection of Khulna city in Khulna District, reports The Daily Star. They also stabbed him. Injured Masum was taken to the Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police detained a suspect, Ahoke Ghosh, while he was fleeing the scene.
